John van den Bosch sweeps in Venray and crowns his season by winning the Dutch Championship & the NHRRG Cup
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The man from Rosmalen (NL) has been the dominant driver in the formula of Continental National Hot Rods in 2017. Heading into the Final Races held at Raceway Venray, one could think that the other drivers may grab the chance to take away the points lead from John. But the team has put on a great car on track all year, using several inventions, making the "old" 206 a front runner throughout the season. After a rainy night, the first heat took place under very wet conditions. It was Christian Simon #144 to write the win on his name followed by Mark Teuben #51 and Jan Kuper jr. #52. John v/d Bosch came home in 10th in a 17 car field. The second heat saw the track drying out. John managed to make his way up to the front but was challenged by Winni Holtmanns #467 racing the car of Guido Wagner. Winni, likewise as John known in the UK as well, had won a Supercup race before under these mixed conditions. But John kept the white Z4 and Erik Roeffen #12 behind him to make it an all or nothing in the meeting final. John van den Bosch, who had to start from P12 in the meeting final, made it a show. He passed one car after the other to gain the lead in the dying laps of the heat and took the chequered as first. He was followed by runner up Johan Sanders #17 from Ter Apel and Reimon Bos #33 in his first season in the Tigra. An excellent result with P4 for Mario Daum #112 in his Rookie season. The day's points chart was lead by John van den Bosch with 46P followed by Winnie Holtmanns with 43P just one point ahead of Reimon Bos.
This, of course made John the Champion of the National Hot Rods on the Continent and the winner of the NHRRG Cup 2017.
Please find all results in the images at the end of this post.
Many thanks to all drivers, teams and fans for a thrilling season 2017.
